Fifth Project
The fifth project was launched on June 16, 2007 and will
cover a period of three years from June 2007 to May 2010.
The site is in Tambon Chorhae, Amphoe Muang, Phrae Province
in northern Thailand and encompasses an area of 200 rai
(80 acres) of hilly terrain almost devoid of trees. Approximately
20,000 trees will eventually be planted consisting mainly
of local trees (e.g., Pterocarpus, ironwood, Malacca tree,
tamarind, neem tree, wattle, Governor's Plum, Casod tree,
Devil tree, rain tree, teak, etc.) as well as hardy trees
recommended by the Forestry Department and the Rajapruek
Institute Foundation which can survive during the hot
summer months. Villagers in the area and Rajapruek staff
will be hired to take care of the trees and site maintenance.
